The 2008 Chevy Tahoe, available at Findlay Chevrolet, easily mastered Southern Utah’s Highway 14, considered a big challenge especially during the winter.

It’s that time of year again when people tired of the rat race head for Southern Utah and its splendid beauty of snow-covered mountains.
However, unlike other times of the year, it is now imperative that a specially-equipped vehicle capable of handling some of the country’s most treacherous terrain is available. You see, Highway 14 heading east from Cedar City, Utah has everything from steep cliffs to narrow two-lane roadways. In the winter, white-out snow fall combined with icy surfaces have claimed countless drivers who suddenly find themselves in over their heads in more ways than one.
In the winter time, the trek to Duck Creek about 29 miles from Cedar City includes snow and ice-covered slippery road surfaces where the slightest error can be fatal.
Findlay Chevrolet General Manager Justin Findlay and New Truck Manager Scott Savage came to my rescue with the keys to an ’08 Chevrolet Tahoe 4WD LT, an SUV boasting everything from excellent power to an impressive interior to even more importantly, a keen ability to handle any challenge ranging from the simple stop-and-go of city driving to high-speed highways and yes, quick-climbing Highway 14 with a summit of 10,000 feet.
Our oldest son, John, says it best of his Tahoe by explaining “Dad, when you own a Tahoe, you don’t have to worry about mountainous roads. It’s an awesome vehicle.”
The Chevrolet Tahoe we took had countless challenges in its three days. It zipped up I-15 to Cedar City with ease only to meet the head-on snow and ice-covered Highway 14. I worried from the time we headed up the 29-mile highway to Duck Creek considering that we had been up the road during inclement weather before.
However, the Chevy Tahoe comes equipped with a fascinating package including a 5.3 liter Vortec V-8 engine and an easy-to-use premium smooth ride suspension package featuring two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive along with an automatic alternative which adjusts the suspension depending on the challenge. Switching from two-wheel to four-wheel is as easy as reaching up on the dash and making a new selection.
When we were safely at Duck Creek, it was discovered that the heavy snows had produced four feet of the white stuff leading to cabins which serve as our solitude. However, the Chevy Tahoe glided its way through the narrow and snow-covered roads with ease.
To give the test drive the complete picture, we took Highway 14 east from Duck Creek to Highway 89, which features a steady decline highlighted by a snow-packed road. From there, we headed south to Zion National Park, which boasts incredible beauty and its share of twisting roadways. And again, the Chevy Tahoe handled Zion like it did every other part of the trip.
The 2008 Chevy Tahoe is a supreme package, to say the least. For the people looking for a versatile vehicle, it doesn’t get any better than this one. And with the Never Ending warranty now available, it provides a complete package.
